Established In 2000

Coach Schmidt’s children help inspire Westside Basketball.  Kevin had just been honored as the Nike/Portland Fire, “Coach of the Game.”  He felt his kids and others like them needed a place where they could learn the game, train efficiently and with proper mechanics while developing confidence. He felt that many trainers lacked credible credentials and character and so Westside Basketball held its first session spring 2001.

Tiffany his oldest holds several all time high school records and went on to play Division 1 Basketball.  Her team won the Division 1 National title as the top academic team in the nation while at Eastern Washington University. She was our first to graduate from the Westside Basketball Academy.

Danielle his second child was the Oregonlive “Player of the Year in 2008.” She broke all time records with the most points in a game, career assists and charges take in a season and in a single game.  She became seriously ill after taking a shot in the Dr. Office and developing Aplastic Anemia

Debbie and Kevin have been married for 30+ years .  She rarely misses a Blazer game on TV, helps with administration of Westside Basketball and Advantage Oregon. She is truly a sports fan, a dedicated and loving wife and the best mother one could ask for.
